Technical integrity of facilities is essential to safeguard people, protect the environment, and ensure cost-effective production.
In the energy industry, facilities are predominantly constructed from carbon steel, which is highly susceptible to corrosion in the presence of water. Assessment tools can support corrosion engineers by strengthening their judgement and helping ensure robust design and effective corrosion management.
CorroKit is a suite of assessment tools developed for training purposes. Its primary audience includes students in the technical sciences as well as practicing corrosion engineers. The tools are intended strictly for education and training; they are not designed for use in system design or operational corrosion management. For such applications, companies should rely on their own proprietary tools or those of third parties.
The scope of CorroKit is limited to internal corrosion in facilities such as pipelines and tubing, where the fluids involved are multiphase liquid–gas–water systems.
